Phuc Kien Assembly Hall Introduction
Phuc Kien assembly hall (Phuoc Kien) or also called Fujian assembly hall is one of the highlight attractions in the ancient town of Hoi An.
It was built by ancient Chinese businessmen and has been developed more and more beautiful as contributing in appealing a lot of tourists come to Hoi An.
Phuc Kien Assembly Hall location
As a relic of religion and belief in Hoi An, Phuc Kien is one of the favorite sightseeing places that you must check in when traveling to Hoi An. Phuoc Kien is one of the 3 famous assembly halls that still existed in the ancient town of Hoi An nowadays. Among the Hai Nam, Quang Dong, Trieu Chau, Fujian is also the most beautiful assembly hall here.
Located at 46 Tran Phu Street, Cam Chau Ward, Hoi An, Quang Nam province. On August 17, 1990, Phuc Kien Assembly hall was recognized as the national heritage of Vietnam.
How to get to the Fujian Assembly Hall Hoi An from Da Nang?
As we mentioned above, the Phuc Kien assembly hall is standing on Tra Phu street, in Hoi An ancient town so to get to this beautiful attraction, you have to reach Hoi An old town first.
From Da Nang, you take the Vo Nguyen Giap- Truong Sa street, then take the Lac Long Quan street. After that, you should turn right to Hai Ba Trung street. Turn left onto Nguyen Cong Tru Street – turn left onto Nguyen Truong To – go straight to Le Loi – turn left onto Phan Chau Trinh – turn right to the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall.

Phuc Kien Assembly Hall History
According to some official documents, the Phuoc Kien assembly hall was built in 1697 with the main purpose to worship the Sea mother Mazu who bless and recure the businessmen who traveled safely on the Ocean. Plus, this is also the place where people can wish for children, good weather and good health. Lately, this is also the clubhouse for Chinese people who come from Phuc Kien (Fujian province) can help each other to do business.
In 1950, The Qing Dynasty, with its powerful force, brought troops to destroy the Ming Dynasty, thereby establishing the Manchu Dynasty. Due to their unwillingness to submit, many generals of the Ming Dynasty revolted and regained their position. However, because the army was weak, unable to counterattack, they had to accompany their family to follow the ships in the opposite direction towards Southeast Asia.
They chose Hoi An to be the second homeland and settle down here because Hoi An was a prosperous area with the largest international trading port and an important hub of the silk road in the world.
To reduce their homesick and help each other to do business, the community of Chinese built their own hometown name’s assembly hall as the way they keep their origin.

Opening hours
Most of the relics in Hoi An ancient town have the same operating hours. So they all open from 7:00 to 18:00 so it is very convenient for all kinds of tourists can explore.
The entrance fee
To enter into the ancient town of Hoi An and other attractions in this area, you have to buy a combined ticket. It costs 120,000 VND/ ticket/ person (roughly 6USD). Please remember that you can use the ticket during your stay in Hoi An. When you enter a relic, they will cut 1 piece of 5 pieces of your ticket.

The pink three-door gate
This is the main entrance to get to Phuc Kien Assembly Hall with 3 large Chinese “Kim Son Tu” which means Golden Mountain Pagoda. Decoration on the right and on the left is the Sun and the Moon represents Heaven and Earth, Ying and Yang.
The Three-door gate has 3 entrances which mean Heaven, Ground, Human Beings. The right entrance is for women and the left is for men. The center one is only opened on the important ceremonies.
Entering the gate is the large yard with bonsai trees, the lake, the main shine, Eastern and Western buildings. The total area is up to 3,000 square meters.
The carp becomes dragons lake
a small beautiful lake with rockery, water lilies, and a symbol of the carps become dragons. This is a famous traditional custom in China with the wish of a smooth season, weather, and good fortune!
The four sacred creatures
Dragon, Unicorn, Turtle, and phoenix are the 4 holy animals in China as well as in Asia which are symbolic of water, fire, ground, and the winds. They are all decorated in Phuc Kien assembly hall Hoi An.
The huge incense circles
This is the highlight of Fujian assembly hall Hoi An existed for a long long time ago. Following the Chinese culture, people will buy the incense, with a yellow tablet, they would write their wishes on it!
Normally it will take about 30 days or 3 weeks so they will burn the wishes to make it become true.

The main shine

On the right and left of the Goddess are the Thuan Phong Nhi (The God with holy ears) and Thien Ly Nhan (The God with holy eyes) who can hear and listen to all the wishes and accidences on the Ocean.
The 12 Midwives, the Prosperrious God, and 6 powerful gods in Heaven
In the back door are the altars to worship the 12 midwives who blessing the couple who could not give birth. In the middle are the 6 powerful gods in Heaven and the left is the altar of the prosperous god.
Fujian assembly hall festivals
A lot of people believe that the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall is a sacred place, so Hoi An people and visitors from all over the world come here to ask for blessings.
Therefore, there is some spiritual festival that takes place here on the full moon days, the new year, or Via Luc Tanh day (February 16 of the lunar calendar); The sea mother day (March 23 of the lunar calendar). On these days, there are a lot of festival activities attracting domestic and foreign tourists to join.
