A long time ago, Tu Hieu Pagoda Vietnam was just a small cottage built by the ancestor Nhat Dinh. He used this cottage to be a place for his mother to live and he took care of his mother there. She suffered from a hard disease when getting old.
Ancestor Nhat Dinh often walked a long road crossing the pass and streams to catch fish and buy meat for his mother to eat. People looking at him were unpleased and began to criticize him because they thought that Nhat Dinh was a monk but he ate meat and fish, which was unacceptable.
However, ancestor Nhat Dinh did not care about the scandals and continued to look after his mother at all costs. When Tu Duc King heard about his dilemma, the king was touched because of his big heart and decided to build Tu Hieu Pagoda in 1948. And we have today’s Tu Hieu Pagoda.
After that, this holy place was convalescence for eunuchs when getting old because of the fresh atmosphere and as well as beautiful natural surroundings. That is the reason why it has another name: Eunuch Pagoda.
