When compared to an Olympic Games opening ceremony, Hoi An Memories Show is the largest performance in Vietnam. With a 3300-seat theater and more than 500 professional dancers and performers, Memories Show of Hoi An is a world-class outdoor visual art show. The 25,000 square meter stage has considered being as huge as a Hollywood set.

The whole performance uses the traditional Vietnamese “Ao dai” as the primary language, mixing it with modern staging techniques to create a unique set with cutting-edge lighting and sound effects.  

Everything is aimed to tell audiences about the historical journey of Hoi An more than four centuries ago with its bustling and charming beauty. The show is divided into 5 parts:

Part 1: Life – Hoi An Memories of the beginning

“Life” performance is a vibrant depiction of the daily routine in the life of Hoi An people in the old days. There is a picture of a young woman weaving fabric with her hands along with a lovely grin on her face. She will be the one that travels with the audience for the next entire 60-minute adventure. Then, at the last minute of the performance, it is also that girl who will create a memorable image that will gratify everyone.

A lively performance of a light path with 100 females wearing gorgeous “ao dai” is also included “Life” part. The idea of a fresh life begins with a young couple’s bliss. Additionally, the picture of young lads working hard in order to build houses for their own families and advance their fishing careers. 

Audiences are all surprised with such modern sound and light methods, as well as careful investment in every detail on the stage from accessories to acting talents. It has allowed the production of “Life” to reemerge vividly with a relevant message for all audiences. 

Part 2: Wedding – Champa Culture Period.

With the majestic sight of elephants picking up the bride, the performance of “Wedding” has always made a profound impact in the hearts of spectators. During the ceremony, hundreds of performers dressed as Cham troops perform Champa dances in lavish costumes.

There are also massive elephant statues as well as a beautiful bridge. Everything has shown a lovely wedding between Huyen Tran Princess and King of Champa Land – Che Man, in a clear and appealing manner.

Hoi An Memories Show aims the audience to learn more about Hoi An’s economic, political, and cultural history during the Champa period through the event. Also, to reproduce the picture of Chiem Cang Land’s crowded commercial port between the 9th and 10th centuries. 

Part 3: Boat and Sea – Hoi An Memories of vigorous changing period

The “Boat and Sea” performance’s principal topic is the development of Hoi An Ancient Town into a bustling commercial port in the 16th and 17th centuries. The love tale of a girl from Fai-Fo country waiting for her beloved, a sailor who is frequently gone from home, is the centerpiece of this section.

Returning to Hoi An in the 16th-17th centuries in the context of developing a new economy; the boy was forced to float on the sea to trade goods with foreign merchants. The boy and the girl had to separate from each other even if they loved each other so much. With fidelity to the end, the girl turned herself into stone like a lighthouse glowing in the night after days of waiting, praying, and missing.

Where is Hoi An Memories Show?

The show is held in Hoi An Impression Theme Park, which is situated on a man-made island named Cam Nam in the midst of the Thu Bon River. It is only around 2-3 kilometers from the town. You have the option of traveling by car or on foot. It will cost around VND 35,000 (USD 1,5) to get there by car from Hoi An Old Town

In case you are driving alone, you can take Hoang Dieu Street through the town and then cross the bridge over the Cam Nam River. Turn left at the second crossroads after crossing the bridge and continue walking until you catch sight of the show’s perspective.

Time and duration

Except on Tuesday, Hoi An Memories Show is held every night. From 7:30 PM until 8:45 PM, the show lasts around 1 hour and 15 minutes. 

Hoi An Memories Show Price

In Hoi An Memories Show, there are three tickers tiers based on seat location. Each child costs between VND 300,000 and VND 450,000 (approximately USD 13 to USD 19). Adult tickets range from VND 600,000 to VND 900,000 per person (approximately USD 23 to USD 39).
